Copper CNC Machining Demand Surges in 2026 for EV Charging Infrastructure Projects

After 15 years in CNC machining, I can confidently say that the current boom in copper parts for EV charging infrastructure is unprecedented. At PFT World, copper CNC machining orders have surged by 62% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year, largely driven by manufacturers of EV charging equipment.

Copper’s excellent electrical conductivity makes it ideal for busbars, connectors, and conductive components in fast-charging stations. However, machining copper presents challenges—it’s soft, prone to burr formation, and requires specific tooling and cutting parameters for a clean surface finish. Over the past year, we’ve optimized our copper machining process by testing various tool coatings and adjusting cutting speeds to reduce burrs and extend tool life, ultimately lowering costs for our clients.

We’ve also increased our stock of popular copper alloys, like C11000 and C10100, ensuring we can start production quickly without waiting for material deliveries. For most projects, we can deliver small to medium batches in 10 days or less.
